An MOT is a legal requirement for vehicles over three years old to ensure they meet minimum safety and environmental standards. A service is not a legal requirement, but it is highly recommended maintenance. While an MOT checks if your car is "road legal" on the day of the test, a service ensures your vehicle stays reliable, efficient, and healthy throughout the year by replacing worn parts and fluids.

Yes! We highly recommend it. Combining both is convenient, saves you an extra trip to the garage, and can often be more cost-effective.

We generally recommend an Interim Service every 6,000 miles or 6 months, and a Full Service every 12,000 miles or 12 months. However, always refer to your vehicle's handbook, as manufacturer schedules can vary based on the age and model of your car.

A DPF is a filter in your exhaust system designed to trap harmful soot. Over time, this soot accumulates. If you primarily drive short distances, the engine may not get hot enough to burn off the soot naturally, leading to a "blocked" filter. A professional DPF clean removes this built-up ash and soot, restoring engine performance and preventing costly filter replacement.

Common warning signs include a dashboard DPF warning light, a sudden drop in fuel economy, sluggish acceleration, the engine entering "limp mode" (reduced power), or the stop-start system failing to activate.

As fuel burns, it leaves behind "soot" or carbon deposits that stick to internal components like valves, pistons, and fuel injectors. Modern engines — especially those with direct injection — are particularly susceptible to this.

Just like a person needs to clear their lungs, your engine needs to breathe. Excessive carbon buildup restricts airflow and fuel delivery, which leads to:

  • Rough idling and difficulty starting.
  • Reduced power and sluggish throttle response.
  • Increased fuel consumption.
  • Higher exhaust emissions (which can cause an MOT failure).

A carbon clean removes these deposits, helping your engine run smoother, quieter, and more efficiently.
